Seva Coffee
We pioneered an all-in-one countertop coffee machine that would roast, grind, and brew from raw beans to a finished cup, all with the press of a button. The machine had to be compact enough to fit within the footprint of a MacBook Pro, yet powerful enough to automate a complex, multi-stage process with precision.
My Role
I was hired by the founder to design and build the company’s first fully functional prototype. This included mechanical, electrical, and software development — from 3D CAD and sensor integration to control systems and interface programming.
Key Projects/Results
Delivered a fully functional, pod-based roast-grind-brew coffee machine prototype with full automation and control — from raw beans to cup — in a compact form factor and under budget.
Problem
Seva Coffee needed a working prototype that could demonstrate the full coffee workflow — roast, grind, brew — in a compact, visually appealing form factor, without off-the-shelf solutions for key subsystems.
Result
Designed, prototyped, and programmed the first working unit of the Seva Coffee machine, which was used to pitch investors and demonstrate the viability of the product concept.
Method
Created a 3D CAD model with over 430 custom components. Integrated analog and digital sensors, high-power thermal systems, and motion control hardware. Programmed system control logic and automation routines using JavaScript and C. Delivered a working prototype on time and under budget.
