Instrumental
Instrumental built AI-powered quality control tools for electronics manufacturing.
By capturing and analyzing images on the production line, the platform enabled faster root cause analysis, defect detection, and continuous yield improvement — all without requiring software integration.
My Role
As the first mechanical engineering hire, I helped shape the core product offering and delivery model. I designed over 100 quality control stations, led on-site installations across Asia and North America, and developed engineering playbooks for global Fortune 500 customers.
In parallel, I drove early sales efforts — creating the company’s first sales plan, closing $2M+ in revenue, and defining the solutions architect role to scale technical pre-sales and post-sales support.
Key Projects/Results
QC Stations: Designed 100+ inline quality control stations for customer factories — from concept to deployment in <1 week.
Installations: Led installations at 20+ Fortune 500 sites across China, Taiwan, the US, and Mexico.
Sales + GTM: Closed $2M+ in deals and created the company’s first repeatable sales plan and solutions architecture process.

Line Setup
Global QC Station Deployment
Problem
To demonstrate Instrumental’s value, we had to install reliable quality control stations quickly — often during high-stakes prototype builds or active production ramps.
Result
Designed and deployed over 100 quality control stations, each tailored to the customer's product and production line, with typical turnaround from concept to factory floor in less than a week.
Method
Created mechanical fixtures and station layouts that could be rapidly adapted to customer needs. Managed the full lifecycle from design through installation, including planning, logistics, and on-site deployment across four countries.
First Sales Plan + $2M in Deals
Problem
Instrumental needed a clear, repeatable sales motion that communicated value to enterprise customers and supported early revenue growth.
Result
Closed over $2M in new business and expanded key accounts. Created the company’s first structured sales plan and developed repeatable methods for identifying ROI and securing executive buy-in.
Method
Developed value-based sales collateral, technical demos, and ROI reporting templates. Worked directly with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to map needs to product capabilities. Helped create the solutions architect role to scale technical sales support.
Customer Engineering + Root Cause Analysis
Problem
Customers needed engineering support to validate Instrumental’s platform, from defect identification to implementation on the line.
Result
Built trust with enterprise customers by delivering engineering value — including inspection SOPs, failure analysis reports, and quality plans — that helped solve real problems and drive adoption.
Method
Developed customer-facing documentation and workflows. Conducted root cause failure analysis and prepared detailed reports that helped manufacturing teams reduce defects and improve yield. Supported ongoing product use and account expansion.
